Adelia Romo passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that touched everyone who knew her. Born on March 5, 1943 in Cotulla, Adelia’s life of eighty-three years was marked by her unwavering commitment to her loved ones and her steadfast Godly spirit.
Adelia was the beloved wife of Alejandro Romo, with whom she shared 65 cherished years. Together, they built a close-knit family, and her memory will live on in the lives of her children: Alejandro Homar Romo and his wife Yolanda, Alejandro Homero Romo and his wife Glinda, Cindy Ortiz and her husband Juan "Eddie", Lourdes Noemi Rizo and her husband Martin, and Enedlia (Amy) Devine and her husband Joe. Adelia's role as a mother and grandmother was central to her identity; she was truly the pillar of her family, always placing her loved ones’ happiness and well-being above all else. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Castor and Matilde Trejo Castor, as well as by her children Priscilla Hernandez and Onezimo "Nessie" Romo. She is also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Those who knew Adelia remember her not only for her warm presence but for the many passions that defined her days. She had a remarkable talent and love for arts and crafts, and found great joy in quilting. Whether creating beautiful projects or sharing her knowledge, she delighted in crafting both with her hands and her heart. Her kitchen was always inviting; she loved to cook and bake, bringing her family together around the table for lovingly prepared meals.
Adelia’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She had a deep love for God that she expressed through song, especially when singing together with her family—a source of great comfort and happiness to her and those who joined her.
Her legacy is one of unity, care, and inspiration. Those who survive her will carry forward her values and the memories of the love she so generously gave.
A memorial service celebrating Adelia’s life will be scheduled at a later date. Please check back for updates about the service as plans are finalized.
