Alamar Marie Ibarra, 81 of Pearsall, entered eternal rest on March 1. 2024. She was born on March 13, 1942, in Pearsall to Tomas Cordova and Romana Hernandez Cordova. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andres Ibarra, son, Andy Ibarra and siblings, Pete Cordova, Paul Cordova, Martina Coronado, Jesse Cordova and Narcisa Navarro.
Throughout the course of her life, Alamar dedicated her time to help improve Frio County in various ways. She was a dispatcher for the Frio County Sheriff office for over 20 plus years. She was also an employee for Frio County EMT and Special Skills, drove the ART bus and also worked at the local nursing home. She believed in fighting for important causes that benefited the people of Frio County, she was an advocate for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), she fought hard for a chapter of this cause to come to Frio County. She was an avid member of the Democratic party, where she helped run campaigns and encouraged people to go out and vote. One of her passions was helping the Local VFW and Veterans. Alamar helped organized the Veteran of Foreign Wars Memorial Wall that is on display across from the park. She helped with raising money for the local cemetery, to keep it cleaned and maintained. She also raised money to purchase the first ever Automated Bugle that played TAPS for the fallen veterans of Frio County. After retirement, Alamar spent her time with her grandchildren and watching telenovelas. The mark Alamar left on this community and everyone that knew her was immense. Her profound dedication for things that she was passionate about could be seen through her work that will be remembered forever. The family and friends of Alamar will always have her many achievements to hold as memories forever, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Aaron Ibarra (Ember) and Brittany I. Mejia (Henry), brother, Felix Cordova of Pearsall. she is also survived by 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will be accepting visitors on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels-Pearsall from 10am-12pm. Services will conclude at the chapel.
