Angelita "Gela" G. Segovia

Angelita "Gela" Garcia Segovia, 90 of Dilley, entered rest on April 24, 2021. She was born on October 12, 1930 in Millett, Texas to Pablo Galvan Garcia and Carmen Ramirez Garcia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe "Chema" Segovia, parents and siblings, Juan Garcia, Pablo Garcia Jr., Ismael R. Garcia, Guadalupe Garcia, Matias Garcia and Ramon Garcia.

Gela was born and raised in Millett, Texas, she lost both her parents at a young age and helped her older brother raise her younger siblings. She graduated from Dilley High School in 1950 along side her sister Petra G. Trevino. She married the love of her life, Joe "Chema" Segovia in 1960.  She started selling Avon soon after high school and continued going from house to house selling products for over 6o years. Everyone knew her as the "Avon Lady". She also worked with Dilley ISD and Dolph Briscoe Prison for many years as a substitute teacher .  Gela served as an election judge for the city, county and school elections. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cursillos, she was a lector, CCD teacher and also helped with the festival fundraisers as well as fundraisers for the Dilley Cemetery which her husband Chema ran. She was an active participant in school activities with her children as well as all the Dilley Little league events. She had a huge heart and loved her grandchildren very much. Gela will be remembered for her excellent sense of humor and the love she had for her family.

She is survived by her children, Joe Oran Segovia (Debbie) of Flatonia and Amaris Correa (George) of Lytle; sisters, Petra G. Trevino of Pearsall and Ynocencia "Chencha" Valdez of California. Grandchildren:  Kristen Loraine Correa and George Andrew Correa; great granddaughter, Anaya Rose Silva. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers include Juan R. Trevino, Paul Gonzales, Mack Segovia, Manuel "Meme" Gomes, George Correa Jr., Moises Gonzales and Prajie Martinez.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels in Pearsall from 3pm-9pm with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dilley at 1pm. Interment will follow at the Dilley Cemetery.
