Angelita M. Treviño

October 19, 1931 — August 1, 2017

Angelita Muñoz Trevino (Jela), daughter of Arturo and Alejandra Muñoz. Our mother came from a family of 10. She has joined her parents, Arturo and Alejandra Muñoz, her husband, Victor Sr., brothers, Lupe, Henry, Manuel, Arturo Jr., Victor, sister Hortencia and granddaughter Selina Trevino in heaven. She has joined her two sons, Victor Jr. and Roger in heaven and she will say, "When I get to heaven the first thing I am going to do is FIND you the SECOND thing I will do is NEVER let YOU go again." She is survived by her sisters, Maria Reyes, Esperanza Guerra; brothers, George Muñoz, Alfred Muñoz.

Our mother raised 10 children: Diana Treviño, Daniel Treviño(Angie), Reynaldo Treviño(Nena), Gloria(Glo) Treviño, Carolina Garibay(Buddy), Lilea(Lilly) Aguayo(Manuel), Armando Treviño(Rosie), Ida Turribiates(German). Our mother worked very hard to make us comfortable and happy.  Angelita has 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and various nieces and nephews.  "Go to school and listen to your teacher or I will have to sit in the back and watch you," she would say.  She would always have some wise words for her children and others.  Most of all her children graduated from HS and some from college.  She herself even received her GED in 1976.

Mom was involved in her community and in her parish. She was a very determined woman. We remember that she wanted to measure the distance between a bar and the church, because it was inappropriate to her beliefs. She even worked at Hector’s Grill. She moved to San Antonio in the late 80’s to take care of her parents. In her community, she was involved as a Raza Unida member, Pearsall City Councilwoman, a founding board member of El Sacrificio that became South Texas Rural, Member of AACOG(community service agency), Pearsall Housing Authority-Senior Citizens), she was always doing something for the betterment of  Pearsall in  other community groups…in the Pearsall schools, she was a PTA President, a teacher’s aide, worked hard in naming a  school after Mr. Ted Flores.

In her church community, she was IHM Parish Council member, sold goodies at IHM to provide funds for the CCD program, Director of Catholic Cemetery Cleaning Group with Ray, Nandy and Alma,  and she was in the Corazon de Maria group.  Her final dream came true  when she went to Rome (Mass with the Pope).

We will have a collection during Mass, and it will be for  CCD, Mom’s favorite  organization.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 3, 2017 from 5pm-9pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall with a rosary recited at 7pm.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday August 4, 2017 at 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
