Artemio Maldonado Treviño, 86 of Pearsall, entered rest on July 30, 2020 at his home. He was born on August 12, 1933 in Pearsall to Blas Trevino and Eulalia Maldonado Trevino. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne Trevino Gomez, parents and siblings, Luis M. Trevino, Pablo Molina, Manuela Molina, Amelia T. Gonzales and Elida Trevino.

Artemio was a successful, patient and caring business man who enjoyed interacting with the community and helping those in need. While still in P.H.S., he was the quarterback for the Pearsall Mavericks who under his leadership went to state in 1951. He graduated from Pearsall H.S in 1953. He found his soul mate and partner for life, Maria de Jesus, at the age of 20. He joined and served in the United States Army. He married Maria de Jesus in 1956 in Laredo, Texas.

Together they co-owned and worked at Trevino Bros. Grocery Store and Trevino Bros. Lumber Construction for the next 26 years. He provided groceries on credit and built and sold homes. He served several years on the City of Pearsall Zoning Board. He founded the A&M Enterprises Furniture and Appliance Store, the A&M Finance Co. and Pearsall Rentals. For the next 38 years he worked diligently to strive to provide his community with quality merchandise and service.

Mr. Trevino enjoyed working, camping, swimming, friends, boxing and traveling. He loved to tell jokes and laugh. He was an active member in his church, Immaculate Heart of Mary, helping in the original construction of the church, member of the Crusillo and a Knight of Columbus.

In the last years of his life, he slowed down due to Parkinson's. He was always surrounded by his wife, Maria de Jesus, daughter Sonia and CNA's Valerie Hernandez and Magda Garcia.

He is survived by his wife, Maria de Jesus Trevino; children, Artie Jesse Trevino of Hawaii, Judy Ann Trevino Bartlett (Robert) of  The Woodlands and Sonia Celina Trevino Ornelas (Ancelmo) of Pearsall. Sister:  Clara M. Tamayo (Gabriel) of Pearsall. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 6pm-9pm with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 11am. Interment will follow at the Pearsall Catholic Cemetery East.
