Carlos Jose Maldonado,46, born on August 17, 1979, in Pearsall, Texas, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2026, in Cotulla, Texas. Known as a dedicated line man and respected as one of the best in the area, Carlos was admired for his hard work and skill, especially his passion for climbing utility poles. His commitment to his craft was a testament to his unwavering work ethic.
A man of deep faith, Carlos loved God profoundly, and his family was everything to him. His love was fierce and unwavering, and those who knew him were touched by the intensity with which he cared. Known for his warm sense of humor and love of joking, Carlos found joy in bringing smiles to others. His generosity knew no bounds; he was always ready to help, willing to give the shirt off his back if it meant making life better for someone else.
As a great leader and an inspirational figure in the community, Carlos encouraged everyone to be their best and never give up. He was a motivating presence, uplifting many through his kindness and encouragement. Riding his motorcycle was a cherished hobby, reflective of his spirited nature and love for adventure.
Carlos's proudest accomplishments included his leadership and the significant positive impact he made within his community. His influence and dedication will be remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sonia P. Maldonado; his parents, Elio Maldonado Sr. and Anna Frances Maldonado; his children, Memorie Maldonado (John), Jeffrey Maldonado (Savannah), Angel Maldonado (Jerry), Sunshine Maldonado, Sergio Gauna Jr., Saul Gauna, and Shelby Gauna; as well as his beloved grandchildren Georgie, Ava, Nova, Atticus, Arya, Ari, Zayla, and Avis. Carlos is also survived by his siblings, Elio Maldonado Jr. (Brenda), Jesse Maldonado (Christina), and Angel Maldonado (Carla).
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Allie Marty; his grandparents Rodolfo and Aurora Gonzales, as well as Pablo and Tomasa Maldonado; and numerous aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at a viewing on June 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Treviño Royal Oaks Dilley Chapel, located at 604 W Leona Street, Highway 85, Dilley, Texas 78017. A prayer service will take place the same evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the chapel. The funeral service will be held on June 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Belen Baptist Church, 202 East White Street, Dilley, Texas 78017. Services will conclude at the church.
Carlos Jose Maldonado’s memory will live on through the lives he touched, the leadership he demonstrated, and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
