Carol Taylor

September 12, 1947 — May 15, 2024

Carol Taylor, age 76, of Pearsall, Texas, transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on May 15, 2024.

Carol was born in Houston, Texas, to James Arthur Wells Jr. and Viola Mae Vandiver Wells, on September 12, 1947. She was the third of seven children. The family moved from Houston to East Texas and then to Missouri when Carol was a child. Carol attended Central High School, in Springfield, Missouri, where she sang in the school choir and played in the orchestra. 4 years after graduating, Carol moved back to Houston, where she worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses, including Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

In 1977, Carol was swept off her feet by a handsome cowboy named Noble Taylor. Carol and her 12-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son moved with Noble to his hometown of Pearsall later that year.

Carol worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in Pearsall until 1979, when she purchased the Sears Catalog Store.  She operated the Sears store until it was sold in 1993. She then worked as the administrative assistant at Frio Regional hospital for several years. At the time of her passing, Carol worked as secretary for First Baptist Church Pearsall and the Tree of Life Learning Academy.

Carol became a faithful and active member of First Baptist Church in Pearsall, on June 12, 1988. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School, and helped out with other church activities in any way she could.

Noble, and his two daughters, Shauna and Leah, and Carol and her two children Michelle and Sean, created a beautiful blended family. Carol and Noble were married in their home, on December 27, 1981. They had 2 sons together, Travis Boone Taylor and Noble Acie Taylor III.

Carol was quite the entertainer. She brought joy, smiles, and laughter to everyone she met through her slightly warped sense of humor, her joke and story-telling, and of course the silly songs she loved to sing every chance she got (often to the embarrassment of her children). A few of her favorites were “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”, the classic “I Just Don’t Look Good Naked Anymore”, and of course her famous original song, “Lizard Guts”.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Howard Rotner; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Noble and Gay Taylor; her sons Travis Boone and Sean Jacob Taylor; Her brother Douglas Wells; and her sister, Lela Kirsch.

She is survived by her husband, Noble; her daughter, Michelle Scott; her son, Noble Taylor III; her daughter, Shauna Garrett and husband Steve; her daughter, Leah McDaniel and husband Bill; her daughter, Meghan Taylor; her grandchildren, Jacob Wilson, Gage Carter, Kadence McDaniel, and Wyatt Cole Taylor; her sister, Judy Barnett; her sister Nancy Schulze and husband, Alfred; her brother Chris Wells and wife, Jodee; her sister Mary Wells Stevens; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carol will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. The sound of her laughter and singing will echo for eternity.

Mrs. Taylor’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Pearsall, Texas.
