Elidia V. Castaneda

Elidia V. Castaneda, "Coach Lillie", 75 of Pearsall, entered rest on May 30, 2024,  in Robstown. She was born on May 31, 1948 to Gilberto Castaneda and Ramona Vinton Castaneda. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Raymond Castaneda, Elinor Castaneda, Elsa Castaneda and Eloise Vinton.

Coach Lillie dedicated 35 years of her life to mentoring and shaping the lives of students at Ted Flores Elementary School.
She was known for her unwavering commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment for young athletes. In addition to her role as a coach, she took on the responsibility of managing the Pearsall Public Pool, ensuring that the community had a safe and enjoyable space for recreational activities. Her leadership and dedication contributed to the pool becoming a cornerstone of the local community, providing generations of families with opportunities for recreation. Coach Lillie's impact is remembered through the countless lives she touched, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her children, Gilbert Daniel Castaneda (Jessica) and Gabriel David Castaneda, daughter in law, Valerie Castaneda, siblings, Ernie Castaneda (Lori), Ester Escamilla (Arthur) and Paulette Overman (Mark). Grandchildren, Alexandrea, Sebastian (Alexis), Legion, Savannah, Noe and Kendra. Great grandchildren, Xandra, Xiomara, Xavian and Bryson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: Gilbert Castaneda, Gabriel Castaneda, Sebastian Castaneda, Legion Castaneda, Aaron Castillo and Anthony Anzaldua.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel-Pearsall from 3pm-9pm with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 10am. Services will conclude at the church.
