Emily De La Cerda Skroupa, a cherished mother, sister, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, in Devine at the age of 92. Born on July 10, 1933, Emily lived a life full of love, dedication, and grace.

Emily will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, George Skroupa Sr., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. The inurnment service will take place on June 11, 2026, beginning at 2:15 p.m., at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio (postal code 78209). Family and friends will gather at this time to honor her memory and celebrate a life well lived.

 She is survived by her devoted sons, George Skroupa Jr. of Pearsall and John Skroupa of San Antonio. Her loving presence extended to four grandchildren. Among her siblings, she leaves behind Andy De La Cerda, Henry De La Cerda, and Connie D. Cardenas, who continue to carry forward the family legacy with pride.

Emily’s life was also marked by the memories of those who preceded her. She was deeply connected to her late husband, George Skroupa Sr., and was the devoted daughter of Jose and Sapopa De La Cerda. She was one of several siblings, including Mary Louise Martinez, Ofelia Martinez, Aurora Reyes, Jose De La Cerda, and David De La Cerda, who have passed on, but whose memories remain cherished by the family.
