Obituary

With deep respect and heartfelt remembrance, the family of Enrique A. Gandara announces his peaceful passing on August 11, 2026, in San Antonio. Enrique was born on May 7, 1941, in Pearsall, and throughout his 85 years, he touched the lives of many with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family and faith.

Enrique’s career was marked by hard work and dedication. For more than two decades, he served as a mechanic at John Deere, earning both the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of countless customers who relied upon his expertise. His strong work ethic and quiet pride in a job well done were hallmarks of his professional life.

Beyond his remarkable work ethic, Enrique had a rich and meaningful life, celebrated most by those who knew and loved him. A proud member of the Catholic Church, Enrique dedicated himself to his faith community as a Bible study teacher and as a member of the Cursillo Choir. Through his involvement, he led by example, sharing his love for God and sense of service with all who crossed his path.

Enrique’s personal passions rounded out a well-lived life. He delighted in the challenge and satisfaction of crossword puzzles, ever sharpening his wit and mind. He was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, enjoying many games surrounded by family and friends, always bringing his signature enthusiasm to every play and every season.

Of all his blessings, Enrique most cherished his family, and above all, he deeply loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His legacy lives on in the values, laughter, and enduring bonds he fostered among his loved ones.

He is survived by his adoring children: his daughters Graciela Martin (Jon), Cynthia Cisneros (Felipe), Elizabeth Gonzales, and Estella Marquez (Chris); his sons Enrique Gandara Jr. (Analilia) and Richard Gandara (Rachel) Enrique leaves behind his beloved siblings: Cruzita Morales, Diana Garcia, Robert Gandara, and Anabelle Lozano. Each of them carries forth his memory with pride and affection. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Enrique is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teresa Cantu Gandara, his mother Guadalupe Ayala Gandara, and his father Teodoro Gandara. He is also reunited in eternal rest with his brothers Alfredo, Manuel, Gamaliel, and Teodoro Gandara Jr and his grandson Bryan Anthony Cisneros.

The family would like to gently invite all who knew and cared for Enrique to join in honoring his memory.
