Gabriel Del Toro Jr., 71 of San Antonio, originally of Pearsall, entered rest on January 5, 2018. He was born on May 11, 1946 in Pearsall to Gabriel Del Toro and Lebrada Garza Del Toro. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Gabriel graduated Pearsall High School in 1964, he then entered the United States Marine Corps where he served his country and earned various decorations and medals. After returning from Vietnam, Gabriel attended the Police Academy and was employed as a Pearsall Police Officer. He then was elected as the Frio County Sheriff and held that position for 4 years until becoming the Warden of Frio County. He served this position until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Rodriguez Del Toro of San Antonio; children, Crystal Kirby and husband Dr. Eddie J. Kirby of Boerne, Abel Adame and wife Ann Marie of Pearsall and Tesona Driskill and husband Jason of San Antonio; sister, Lilly Cisneros and husband Aurelio of San Antonio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gabriella, Gabriel, Michael, Nicole, Jason, Kyle, Haley and Jayden.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 2pm-9pm with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 9 am. Interment will follow at the VFW Cemetery with military honors.
