Derby

Gay Taylor, age 91, entered rest on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in Pearsall, Texas with family at her side. Born to Orlando Lacurtsie Copeland and Beulah Myrtle Shedd Copeland in Hondo, Texas on July 10, 1927, her family moved to White Point, San Patricio County, Texas in 1928, shipping their household goods by rail while the family traveled by car. She met the love of her life in Corpus Chrisit, and she married Noble A. Taylor on February 5, 1948. They were married for 62 years at the time of his death February 14, 2010. They started their family in Corpus Christi, where Noble owned a construction and house moving business. They moved to Derby, Texas in 1959.

Gay played the piano beautifully until just a few months before her death. She was also a very good artist, painting with oils. She was an excellent seamstress as well, making beautiful garments for the whole family. Her favorite pastime was deer hunting, and you could find her in her blind morning and evening until she decided in her late eighties that morning hunts were not for her. She was also an avid reader of "romance" novels. She was extremely sharp, and kept the books for her husband's house moving company. She managed her family's personal finances until just a few years ago. With a shrewd business sense and a keen eye for detail, she could negotiate a good bargain or contract.

She is survived by her children, Noble II and Carol Taylor of Pearsall, daughter Lana and Bruce Davis of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Michelle Anne Scott, Shauna Dawn Taylor, Leah Acie McDaniel and husband Bill, Meghan Alexandra Taylor, Meghan Elizabeth Miller and husband Rob, Noble Acie Taylor III, Rex Davis; great grandchildren, Jacob Wilson, Gage Carter, Kadence McDaniel, Wyatt Taylor, Alexa Miller, Stewart Pawlik and Bam Gene Miller. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews and greats.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers and sisters, Charlie James Copeland, Bernice Clara Copeland Beacham, Eldridge J. "Bill" Copeland, Susie Inez Copeland Boslav and Joe Landa "JL" Copeland and her grandsons Travis Boone Taylor and Sean Jacob Taylor.
