Gloria Leal Cubriel

Gloria Leal Cubriel, born on October 30, 1946, in Pearsall, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Helotes, Texas. Gloria's journey in this world concluded peacefully, just 54 days after the death of her beloved husband, Modesto L. Cubriel. Her legacy is one of love, service, and a deep commitment to her community and family.

Before retirement, Gloria dedicated herself to a varied and impactful career that included roles as a peace officer, dispatcher, municipal judge, Frio County clerk, and president of the school board. Her work was characterized by a profound dedication to the well-being of those around her, embodying the spirit of service that defined her life.

Gloria was a cherished matriarch, leaving behind her loving children, Sonia Cubriel Haywood (Steve) and Tito Cubriel (Dawn). She also took great pride in her grandchildren, Kyrstin McBride (Jansen), Kaycee Cubriel, and Morgan Haywood, and she found immense joy playing with her great grandson Stetson and his dinosaurs.. The anticipation of welcoming her great-granddaughter in February filled her heart with excitement and hope.

A deeply caring individual, Gloria was known for her sweet disposition and unwavering faith in God. She was committed to helping her community, a testament to her strong character and the values instilled in her from a young age. Gloria's contributions will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Modesto L. Cubriel; her parents, Concepcion Leal and Olivia Vinton Leal; and her siblings, Ruben Leal, Maria Soto, Yolanda L. Castillo, Concepcion Leal Jr., and Adriana Leal. Their memories remain a cherished part of her life's tapestry.

In honor of Gloria Leal Cubriel’s extraordinary life, services will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall, Texas. A Rosary will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM on December 30, 2025. The day will conclude with an inurnment at the Frio County Cemetery at 12:00 PM.

As we remember Gloria, we celebrate a life well-lived, one marked by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. She will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
