Guadalupe Fernandez Martinez, 77, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, in San Antonio, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 28, 1948, in Pearsall to Luis and Matilde Leal Fernandez, Guadalupe was a beacon of love and strength throughout her life.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Guadalupe Cantu Martinez and their cherished son Carlos F. Martinez, she leaves behind a legacy that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew her. She is also reunited with her parents, siblings Luis Fernandez Jr., Sabas Fernandez and Jose Alejandro Fernandez and grandchildren David Martinez Gonzalez and Kathy Aranda Guerra as well as great-great-grandchild Jordy Aguirre.
Guadalupe's spirit lives on through her devoted children: Margot Rodriguez (LeRoy), Veronica M. Gonzalez (David), Rose Ann Martinez, and Anna Lisa Bugarin-Rosales (Juan). Her siblings Rosa Segura and Fernando Fernandez stand alongside an extensive family tree that includes sixteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild—each one touched by the warmth of "Grandma," a title she wore proudly for all who entered her life.
A woman of deep faith whose kindness knew no bounds, Guadalupe had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel loved. To know her was to experience unconditional affection; she embraced each person with open arms regardless of blood ties or circumstance. Her laughter filled rooms like sunlight breaking through clouds—a reminder that joy can be found even amidst life's challenges.
As we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Guadalupe Fernandez Martinez—a mother figure not just to her own but also to countless others—we remember how deeply she cared for everyone around her. The world feels dimmer without your light guiding us forward; you will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
