Hortencia Molina Moreno

August 14, 1941 — June 1, 2025

Hortencia Molina Gonzales (Moreno) passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on August 14, 1941, in Dilley, TX.

Hortencia married Eumeraldo Gonzales, and together they raised three children. Over the years, she worked in a variety of roles that reflected her strong work ethic and love for serving others. She was a bus driver and cook for the Texas Migrant Council, worked in several restaurants, and also held a position at Wintergarden Medical Center. She lived in several Texas communities, including Dilley, Grand Prairie, San Marcos, and San Antonio. Later in life, she married Armando Moreno.

Hortencia is lovingly remembered by her three children: Danny (Amy) Gonzales of San Marcos, TX; Maria Veda (Salvador) Vasquez Jr. of San Marcos, TX; and Viviano Gonzales (Claudia Diaz) of Richmond, TX. She was a proud grandmother to Brianne (Gilbert) Aguilar and Colin Gonzales; Nichole Alaniz and Joey (Veronica) Alaniz; and Jasiah Vasquez; Brisa and Sorraya Gonzales. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who brought joy to her life.

She is also survived by her stepchildren from her marriage to Armando Moreno; Ignacio (Myra) Moreno, Rebecca (Mike) Garza, Amanda (Daniel) Rojas, Ricky Moreno, Bobby (Danielle) Moreno, Irene (Carlos) Barrera, who were a cherished part of her life.

She is survived by her sister, Maria Rodriguez, and preceded in death by her husband Eumeraldo Gonzales; her parents, Maria and Juan; and her siblings Pedro, Dalia, Servando, Arturo, Olga, and Guillerma, as well as her second husband, Armando Moreno.

Hortencia’s greatest passion was her church community, where she faithfully served as a deaconess. Her deep faith and devotion to serving others were cornerstones of her life and legacy. In addition, she found joy in cooking and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino’s Funeral Home in Dilley, TX, with a service at 7:00 PM.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel-Dilley from 8:30am-10am with interment to follow at the Dilley Cemetery.

In honor of Hortencia’s vibrant spirit and love of her favorite color, friends are invited to wear pink in lieu of traditional funeral attire.
