Obituary

John Albert Kloth, a respected community member and dedicated public servant, passed away on April 24, 2026, in Dilley, Texas. Born on October 2, 1948, in San Antonio, he lived a life marked by service, commitment, and a deep love for family and community.

John’s career was characterized by hard work and versatility. He contributed his skills and labor to Medina Electric, Joeris Construction Company, and Heiser Quality Peanut Company. Beyond his professional endeavors, John’s dedication extended into his volunteer and civic engagements. He proudly served as a firefighter in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to firefighting. Following his military service, John was a founding member of the first group of the Dilley Volunteer Fire Department, earning the distinction of Firefighter of the Year. His passion for firefighting also led him to serve with the Pearsall Volunteer Fire Department. With a heart devoted to bettering his community, John further contributed by serving on the City Council of Dilley.

John’s personal interests reflected his vibrant and engaging spirit. He loved to fish and enjoyed trips to the casino. He found joy in dancing and was an enthusiastic participant in card games, softball, and dominoes, activities he shared with friends and family alike.

John is lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Debra M. Kloth; their children, John Adam Kloth and Jennifer Lynn Sanchez (Israel Sr.); and cherished grandchildren, Israel Sanchez Jr. and Isabel Alicia Sanchez. He is also survived by his nephews, Teddy Henrichson (wife Michelle) and Timmy Henrichson (wife Lynette), who carry forward his legacy of kindness and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Tobias Kloth and Geraldine Vrana Kloth, and his sister, Hazel Henrichson. Their memory remains a guiding light for those who knew and loved John.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Methodist Church, located at 122 W Miller St, Dilley, TX 78017, on May 2, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Following the service, inurnment will take place at the Dilley Cemetery starting at 11:30 a.m.

John Albert Kloth’s quiet strength, dedication to public service, and warm, social nature left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know him. His legacy endures in the community he helped protect and lead, and in the hearts of his family and friends.
