Born on April 12, 1942, in Dilley, Texas, Lamar lived a life rich in love and devotion to her family, including her husband, Hasuse I. Duran, and their three children, Jesse Ernesto Duran, Joel Duran (and partner Michael Bolen), and Eric Duran (and partner Selena). She also cherished the joy of her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and happiness throughout her life.
Lamar was characterized by her warm and loving personality, always radiating kindness and affection, especially towards her grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family; she had a profound love for gardening which not only provided her with joy but also brightened her home. She found great pleasure in tending to her garden, with her favorite flowers being the bogadelias. Shopping was another adored pastime, with visits to the dollar store and Walmart becoming cherished moments. Lamar had a particular fondness for purses and costume jewelry, which added a personal touch to her style.
She is survived by her husband, children, sister Lydia G. Duran, and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember her love and wisdom for generations to come. Predeceasing her were her parents, Willie Guillermo Garcia and Tomacita Casarez Garcia, along with siblings Esperanza Santos and brothers Hector and Willie Garcia.
A visitation to honor Lamar will be held on February 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary service at 6:00 PM, both taking place at Treviño Royal Oaks Dilley Chapel, located at 604 W Leona St, HWY 85, Dilley, TX 78017
