Leonardo T. Pruitt 71 went to our Lord on Saturday June 15,2013 after a 3 year courageous battle with cancer. Leo was born on August 9, 1941 to Delfino and Petra (Trujillo) Pruitt. Leo started working at the age of 15 in Wisconsin, Michigan and Texas as a migrant worker. In Chilton, Wi. He worked for Friday’s Canning Company with his brother and cousin. He worked for Sheboygan Pallet for a year. In 1972 he started working at Chilton Aluminum Company, later known as Foley Company and worked there until they closed the factory and he retired. Leo was very famous at the Calumet County Fairs where he had Leo’s Tacos. He loved making his tacos and when the stands closed at the fair he continue with his annual Tacos on Father’s Day after the Parade. Leo loved gardening, landscaping with railroad ties and stones. He has done many water gardens for family and friends. Leo was also a very talented artist. He could paint on canvas and feathers. He was always taking a class or two to develop new techniques. Leo loved watching Laurel and Hardy and old Westerns.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Rodolfo Pruitt, sister, Manuela (Mae) Sambrano and step-granddaughter Jamie Huebschmann. Leo is survived by his daughter Therese and Nathan Wusterbarth, 4 step children Tammy and Henry Gillig, Scott Groeschl, Jody and William Synder, and Lonnie Groeschl. 9 grandchildren: Talicia Wusterbarth, Vanessa and AJ Minaudo, Kaleb Wusterbarth: Brandon Gillig and Jerrit and Monica Gillig; Trisha and Cory Voigt, Scott and Maria Groeschl, Courtney Groeschl, Ian Groeschl and 7 great-grandchildren: Tommy and Nasir Wusterbarth, Mason and Carson Minaudo, and Josie, Elsie and Clara Voigt. His brothers: Alfredo and Theresa Pruitt and Lorenzo and Andrea Pruitt. Three sisters: Trinidad Rodriguez, Juanita and Luis Viesca and Rosalinda and Joe Guajardo. He is also survived by Diana Mertz, his long time friend and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel in Pearsall, TX. from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment followrd at the Pearsall Catholic Cemetery West side. There will also be a memorial service in Chilton, WI on Saturday June 22 with visitation from 1-4 PM and memorial service at 4:30 PM with Pastor Marc Axelrod officiating. Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Home in Pearsall TX and Wieting Funeral Home in Chilton are assisting the family
