Lionel R. Gonzales

Lionel Recio Gonzales, "Popo", 85 of Pearsall, entered rest on May 28, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 11, 1937, in Dilley to Reyes Gonzales and Concepcion Recio Gonzales. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandchild, Ivana Gonzales, son in law, Angel A. Medrano and siblings, Genaro, Benito, Gonzalo, Reyes Jr., Jose, Enriqueta, Estella, Maria and Eva.

Pallbearers include Roland Elizondo, Michael Medrano, Matthew Medrano,Betty Jo Montano, Julian Gonzales, Julian Gonzales Jr.
Honorary: Roland Elizondo Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Oralia Hernandez Gonzales, children, Maria Adriana Medrano and Lionel Gonzales Jr. (Alice), grandchildren, Melissa Elizondo (Roland), Michael Medrano, Matthew Medrano, Julian R. Gonzales and Rosangela L. Gonzales. He is also survived by his sister, Englentina Mata as well as 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels from 3pm-9pm with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 10am. Interment will follow at the Frio County Cemetery.
