Modesto L. Cubriel

Modesto L. Cubriel, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in Helotes, Texas, surrounded by his beloved wife, Gloria Leal Cubriel. He was born on December 2, 1946, in Moore, Texas, and dedicated 32 years of his life to serving at the Texas Department of Transportation as a LabTec.

A proud graduate and stand out athlete of Pearsall High School, Class of 1965, Modesto's journey was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family and community. He married Gloria in the same year of his graduation, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion.

Modesto embraced the joys of life with enthusiasm, reveling in his hobbies of golfing and fishing, which brought him much happiness and relaxation. His proudest accomplishments were found in the presence of his family—his children, Sonia Cubriel Haywood (Steve) and Modesto Cubriel Jr. (Dawn), as well as his grandchildren, Kyrstin McBride (Jansen), Kaycee Cubriel and Morgan Haywood. The light of his life also included his great-grandson, Stetson, whose laughter and joy he cherished deeply.

He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, along with his brothers, Adolfo Cubriel (Rosa), Armando Cubriel (Anna). Modesto was preceded in death by his parents, Dotson Cubriel and Juana Llanez Cubriel and brother Orlando Cubriel, who undoubtedly pridefully watched over him from above.

A Rosary will be held on October 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM, both at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall, Texas. Inurnment will take place at the Frio County Cemetery after the Mass.

Modesto L. Cubriel will be remembered for his kindness, deep love for his family, and the legacy he leaves behind in their hearts. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, as he made an indelible mark on the lives of many.
