Ofelia Lopez Morquecho,78, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home in Pearsall, Texas, on May 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 4, 1947, in Orange Grove, Texas, Ofelia’s life was one marked by kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Ofelia's presence brought joy to many; she was a woman who loved music and dancing, filling rooms with her radiant spirit and graceful steps. Gardening was a passion close to her heart. As a gifted cook, she was especially known for her delicious tortillas—recipes handed down and savored by generations. Her spirited personality and memorable words, “You’re not going to get any cakey, you boy,” will forever echo in the hearts of her loved ones, a lighthearted reminder of her humor.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Santiago D. Morquecho of Pearsall, who stood by her side with undying love and companionship. Ofelia’s legacy lives on through her children: Noe Perez (Pat) of Lubbock, Daniel Perez of Seguin, Esperanza Arce of Pearsall, Robert Perez of Pearsall, Christina Carrizales (Paul) of Pearsall, Isidro Perez (Hedi) of Seguin, and Ben Perez (Crystal) of Lubbock. Cherished siblings — Juan Lopez, Richard Lopez, Cristela Lopez, and Diamantina Garcia — continue to hold her memory dear. Her family tree flourishes with 32 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews who all carry forth her loving spirit.
Ofelia’s journey on earth was also shaped by the memory of those who preceded her: her parents Martin Lopez and Eufemia Olivarez, her sons, Abel Perez and Domingo Perez, and her brother Gilbert Lopez. Their legacy lives on alongside hers in the hearts of family and friends.
To honor Ofelia’s remarkable life, a visitation will be held on May 5, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel and Crematory, located at 203 E. Frio in Pearsall, Texas. A Rosary service will commence that evening at 7:00 p.m. and conclude at 7:30 p.m., providing all who knew her an opportunity to reflect on her treasured life.

Though she has left this world, her legacy is deeply rooted in the hearts of her family and community, living on through the generations she so dearly loved. Her life's melody, filled with laughter, music, and the aroma of home-cooked food, will forever resound, a comforting reminder of a soul so beautifully lived and lovingly remembered.
