Obituary

Petrita Vasquez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, transitioned peacefully on February 26, 2026, at her home in Pearsall, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 3, 1953, in Pearsall, she filled her years with warmth, love, and kindness that resonated deeply within her community and family.

Petrita’s heart was especially full when it came to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished each moment spent with them, taking great joy in their laughter and in the stories they shared. Her love for family was boundless, exemplifying a life lived with pride in her loved ones. She frequently delighted in watching them grow, celebrating their achievements, and supporting them through their challenges.

She is survived by her devoted children: Gilbert Gallardo, Gerald Gallardo (Heather), Homer Gallardo, Sonia Vasquez, Serapio Vasquez Jr., Sergio Vasquez, Saul Vasquez (Tanya), Esmeralda Leyva (Freddie), Soledad Vasquez (Mario), and Aurelio Vasquez. She leaves behind 43 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom carry forward the light she brought into their lives.

Petrita is also survived by her siblings: Irma Vasquez, Nora Trevino, and Reymundo Vasquez, who, alongside her children, will keep her spirit alive in their memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Vasquez and Eusebia Trevino Vasquez, and siblings, Marina Verzoza, Patricia Murguía, Maria Leal, Joe Ray Vasquez, Raynaldo Vasquez, Rogelio Vasquez, Mario Vasquez, Jame Vasquez, Felix Vasquez and Sylvia Cuevas whom surely welcomed her with open arms and love.

A visitation will be held at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel and Crematory on March 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Rosary at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapel and Crematory on the same day at 7:00 PM. A Mass will follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on March 3, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM, with burial thereafter at Frio County Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to their cousin Blanca for generously donating a burial plot so that Petrita may be laid to rest beside her sister.

Petrita Vasquez brought joy and love to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. As we reflect on her life, we celebrate her nurturing spirit, her unwavering love, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
